1. Check the knowledge

List the questions you want the assistant to answer. Confirm that an accurate, current source exists for each one and assign an owner for future updates.

2. Define the boundaries

Decide which topics require a person, what the assistant should never do, and how it should respond when information is missing.

3. Design the handoff

Make the route to a teammate clear. Preserve the question, relevant sources, attempted steps, and the reason for the handoff.

4. Test the awkward cases

Include ambiguous wording, contradictions, requests outside the scope, and attempts to override the assistant’s instructions. Review the actual responses with the team.

5. Review real outcomes

When production is connected, examine repeated contacts, unresolved questions, and customer feedback alongside operational measures. Expand scope only when the evidence supports it.
